I just finished scrubbing the dog’s teeth. I actually thought that my days of scrubbing teeth other than my own were over after that glorious day about 10 years ago when our youngest no longer needed my assistance. But now it turns out that you have to scrub your dog’s teeth. It is unlikely that Copper will develop either an opposable thumb or the coordination necessary to hold a toothbrush anytime soon. But the vet says that her teeth must be scrubbed, so I (The Mom) scrub them. What I am wondering right now is whether there is anyone is out there devoting their life to scrubbing the teeth of wolves and coyotes and the other canines who would not otherwise receive proper oral care.
My friend and lay teacher Rachel has offered to set this blog up for me, because she is a generous and kind soul who seems to intrinsically understand what a technology idiot I am. She will be scrubbing two sets of other people’s teeth in about a year or so. I don’t know if she and Jennifer scrub their Sheltie’s teeth (again – two of them – they like things in two.) If they do, that’s four sets of teeth to scrub besides their own, which is a lot of responsibility.
I am finishing up an MDIV at Perkins School of Theology at SMU and am serving an Internship at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church. But mostly I am a wife and Mom who is still scrubbing teeth.
